Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP) | Marketing and Social Media Lead

As the first full-time marketer supporting this government-funded, environmental health publication, I researched, created and implemented a comprehensive digital marketing strategy. The plan includes a revised site taxonomy, fresh page content and  a more visual and broader approach to social media. We are also tasked with promoting new content, including curated collections and the recently relaunched podcast program.


CONTENT STRATEGY

  • Compile and analyze the journal’s current footprint using Google Analytics, social media data and Altmetric Explorer
  • Research competitor sites, social media channels, data and marketing tactics
  • Interview key stakeholders to understand overall goals, audiences, value proposition, history, strengths, successes and pain points
  • Provide an overarching strategy which includes specific website and social media recommendations

WEBSITE

  • Redesign site taxonomy prior to new site launch on the Literatum platform
  • Collaborate with news editor to create new page content to emphasize EHP‘s unique value proposition

SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Revamp social media program to include a wider variety of content, graphics to reinforce strategic messaging, author engagement and tagging
  • Create social media planning calendar to facilitate advance, detailed scheduling, encourage team participation and collaboration
    Apply consistent branding and naming convention to all files and images 
  • Research related observances, events and related hashtags
  • Follow a wider variety of authors and influencers on social media, and share their content when applicable

PROCESS/PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Create internal SharePoint site to serve as portal for marketing project coordination; document and image storage and Best Practice resource hub
  • Develop ticketing system and processes to streamline and enhance project organization and encourage cross team communication

LIAISON BETWEEN PRODUCTION AND EDITORIAL TEAMS

  • Coordinate editorial and production deliverables while keeping leadership apprised of project progress and statuses
